The Why of Our Business

Now that we are almost a year into Efficiencyware as a formal business, not just a few folks have asked us – why would we leave perfectly good jobs to start out own business? It’s true – entrepreneurship is a challenging road, between the insane hours (our primary partners are in India), the new skills to learn (looking at you, bookkeeping), and the constant feeling that your own and many others’ livelihood is all on your shoulders.

The reason that we wanted to start Efficiencyware was, in a nutshell, the gaps. We’ve both worked in the business tech industry for 20-plus years. Rusty has been on the database and development side for startup, healthcare, education, etc. I’ve been in the ERP world on the client-end, mostly in distribution and manufacturing.

What both of us saw was an ongoing problem for smaller to mid-sized customers in the gaps in their business that technology wasn’t filling. There are some areas in companies where you just can’t find a pre-built system at any price. There are some areas where you can find the perfect system, but the price is insane relative to the capabilities.

While there is no shortage of technology off-the-shelf available for the core areas of most verticals, it seems like almost every business has a little place over on the edge of the core platforms that is chronically underserved. That’s where our team shines.

For example, we have a client who is big in digital marketing for retail and consumer brands. Marketing Technology is an area where it’s a $34 billion-dollar technology industry, so…the landscape is pretty saturated with a vast variety of systems and platforms. However, our client had a unique need for a platform to manage a very specific and traditional way that its customers go to market. This functionality did not exist in the market anywhere. Cut to the chase: our genius team created a beautiful and functional system for them that’s easy to manage and fit their budget – and it was done really FAST.

We’re excited to deliver smaller companies a way to fill gaps in their tech stack to help them grow, with an appropriate investment level for them. Tell us how we can help you.
